I was just driving down Warwick Blvd & it hit me, "I want some bbq ribs!" LOL, just like that. I have seen this place for a long time but never had a chance to come by. I ordered the bbq plate with greens & mac&chz. What can I say? Everything was absolutely delicious & really had that homemade quality. The space itself could use some TLC but the server was very nice & the food was BOMB. honestly, truly.

    HELL NO!!!!!

Do not do it! Save your money!

Just wasted $23 on a pork chop and chicken wing dinner both with macaroni and string beans. Let's start with the pork chops......they taste like they were seasoned with the packet of seasoning out the oodles and noodles chicken pack. I bit it twice and threw it away because I felt like I was eating noodles. Gross! The string beans were dumped right out of a can. Soul food?? Lmao no meat or onions in them or nothing. Shit, not even salt and pepper. Bland at the least! Adding salt and pepper didn't even make them desirable. The macaroni was ehhhh. It tasted OKAY after adding salt and pepper. As for the wings, I asked for them to be fried hard and that was a fail. They were still 'wet'. Y'all know what I mean. Who likes juicy fried chicken? Sh*t was so nasty I wish I could dispute it on my card! Lol anyway, Martin's failed Newport News. Y'all want some food that's not only edible but good, go across the water & get some A-Mayes-N soul food off military hwy. I should've just waited until I got back on that side. I learned my lesson and now I'm passing on the knowledge to you all.

If you knew better, you'd do better. & people, DO BETTER!

The food here is amazing! But I do believe they need more employees. Food takes entirely too long to be cooked, and served to customers. There were customers that walked in after me, placed their order and received there's before I did.

Again the food is amazing, and this isn't first time I've experienced an issue such as this with Martin's. A 25 minute wait for food is absurd

I've been to Martin's a handful of times and the food here is very good!  The only thing that I didn't like that I tried was the baked chicken which was a little bland to me.  Aside from that,  the fried chicken is popping! They are a nice size and can definitely fill you up.   The wait time can be quite lengthy so I recommend calling in your order to pick up if you  don't want to wait too long. The prices are fairly low for the amount of food you get so I'll keep coming back here and trying different things from off the menu.

I went to get my taxes done at H and R Block and was lured by the smell of Martin's.  I enjoyed chatting with the folks at the counter who directed me to the most popular dishes as I was torn!  I ended up with the fried catfish and the pork chops with greens, corn and cabbage.  The catfish was crispy and perfectly seasoned.  I appreciated the fact that the sides were not over salted which can often be the case in some soul food restaurants.  I was happy to find this restaurant and will be back to try the turkey chops and desserts.
